Weekend Carrier Sales & Operations Specialist

Talento is seeking a Weekend Carrier Sales & Operations Specialist to drive freight coverage, carrier engagement, and operational support during weekends. This role is primarily focused on carrier sales and capacity procurement, ensuring freight is covered for weekend and early-week pickups while maintaining visibility on active shipments and delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in freight brokerage, carrier sales, or dispatch, with a strong ability to source capacity, negotiate rates, and manage transportation operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Carrier Sales & Capacity Management

• Source and secure carrier capacity for loads scheduled to pick up on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
• Negotiate competitive rates with carriers while maintaining company margin and service expectations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier owners, dispatchers, and operations teams.
• Proactively cover open loads to ensure uninterrupted service and prevent capacity gaps.
• Professionally post available freight and communicate shipment requirements through approved load boards and carrier networks.
• Utilize load boards such as DAT, Truckstop, and established carrier networks to efficiently secure capacity.
• Monitor regional carrier availability, equipment trends, and market conditions to support freight coverage strategies.

Operations & Customer Support

• Monitor and track active shipments throughout the weekend.
• Provide customers with real-time shipment updates and promptly respond to inquiries.
• Identify potential service disruptions and proactively resolve delays or operational issues.
• Maintain clear communication with carriers, drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Ensure all load and shipment information is accurately updated within the Transportation Management System (TMS).

Market Intelligence & Rate Gathering

• Gather carrier pricing and market information to support transportation planning and decision-making.
• Track capacity trends, equipment availability, and changing market conditions.
• Provide insights regarding regional capacity constraints and carrier appetite to support operational planning.
