DevOps Lead

Job Overview

Plan A Technologies is looking for a DevOps Lead to spearhead the architecture, security, and scalability of our cloud and edge infrastructure. In this role, you will bridge the gap between development and operations, taking ownership of our AWS environments, deployment automation, and critical xIoT data ingestion layers.

As a hands-on leader, you will establish operational excellence from day one. You will design and maintain robust CI/CD standards, with a specific focus on architecting self-hosted GitLab deployments, cloud web app deployments, and automating Unity build pipelines to streamline game engine workflows. Beyond core pipeline management, you will implement secure secrets management and comprehensive observability frameworks, guiding our infrastructure strategy while mentoring the team on DevOps best practices.

Please note: you must have at least 8+ years of professional experience as DevOps and 3+ years as Lead in a cloud-native environment to be considered for this role.

Job Responsibility & Experience

• 3+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or acting as the technical authority for DevOps/SRE initiatives within a cloud-native environment.
• Proven experience standing up, securing, and maintaining multi-environment cloud infrastructure (Dev, Staging, Production) within AWS.
• Design and manage robust CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab pipelines, to automate compilation, testing, and deployment for every PR and merge.
• Architect and manage self-hosted GitLab deployments, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability.
• Configure and automate Unity build pipelines, streamlining the integration of game engine workflows with cloud-native deployment environments.
• Utilize containerization and orchestration (Docker Compose, Kubernetes, AWS ECS) to support both local development and production cloud environments.
• Deep understanding of cloud networking architecture, including VPCs, security groups, IAM roles, and strict access control configurations.
• Proven track record of implementing enterprise-grade credentials strategies using tools like HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Manager to ensure zero hardcoded credentials.
• Experience establishing platform health metrics, centralized logging, and alerting systems (logs, metrics, traces) from the ground up.
• IoT/Message Brokers: Familiarity with supporting infrastructure for physical devices, including the setup and scaling of message brokers (MQTT, Apache Kafka) and data ingestion pipelines.

Nice to Haves

• Strong experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible for predictable infrastructure provisioning.
• Experience managing infrastructure that bridges cloud environments with physical on-premise hardware or edge devices.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001) relevant to guest data and enterprise infrastructure.
