Senior Backend Engineer (Java/GO)

Job Overview

Plan A Technologies is seeking a pragmatic, high-level Senior Backend Engineer to join our core engineering team. You will be instrumental in evolving our platform from legacy infrastructure to a modern, cloud-native ecosystem.

Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience with Golang and Java to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

• Modernize Infrastructure: Lead the migration of manually provisioned AWS resources to Terraform (IaC) and bring out-of-band persistence constructs into managed codebases.
• System Architecture: Design and maintain high-throughput, event-driven systems using Kafka, gRPC, and Thrift API design.
• Cloud Efficiency & Strategy: Drive AWS cost optimization initiatives without sacrificing performance.
• Raise the QA Bar: Address "mixed-maturity" QA environments by designing robust integration and E2E testing frameworks that empower teams to own their quality end-to-end.
• Standardize Knowledge: Solve documentation fragmentation by establishing a unified, "docs-as-code" standard across repositories and Confluence.
  
  

Experience

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a Senior Backend.
• Expert-level proficiency in either Go and Java.
• API Design: Proven experience with gRPC and Thrift for high-performance service communication.
• Previous experience with Postgres.
• Nice to have: Kafka.
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure migration and management.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, problem solver, and analytical abilities.
• Outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills.
