Project Controller

WSP is seeking a Project Controller to join the Québec Buildings Team (ST-CI & M&E), providing financial and administrative support to Project Managers while contributing to the successful delivery of building projects.

Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring effective coordination between Operations, Finance, Accounting, Billing, and Accounts Receivable teams. This position is critical to maintaining financial integrity, supporting project performance, and contributing to projects that help shape the future of our communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the accuracy, creation, maintenance, and ongoing updates of project-related data, including opportunities, projects, budgets, and revenue information.

• Provide support to the Project Management Office (PMO) in the use and administration of Oracle, including project setup, project modifications, and baseline resets.

• Identify variances between project costs and revenues and coordinate the implementation of corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.

• Prepare and maintain periodic project forecasts, including Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC), in collaboration with Project Managers.

• Support Project Managers with financial and project control activities, complementing the work performed by Project Accountants and Finance teams.

• Participate in project change management processes and ensure proper financial impacts are reflected.

• Ensure the quality, consistency, and traceability of project financial information within corporate systems.

• Facilitate effective coordination between Operations, Finance, Billing, and other project stakeholders.

• Improve the flow, accessibility, and understanding of project financial information, serving as a key resource for project teams.

• Monitor project financial performance and prepare reports to support informed decision-making.

• Contribute to the successful achievement of project financial and operational objectives.

Qualifications

Education

• Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualification in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

• Additional education or certifications in Project Controls, Financial Management, Project Management, or related disciplines will be considered an asset.

• Any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

• 5 to 10 years of experience in Project Controls, Project Financial Management, Cost Control, or Project Administration.

• Experience within the buildings, engineering, infrastructure, or construction industries.

• Strong experience in project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial performance monitoring.

• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and multiple stakeholders.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of the building engineering and construction environment.

• Solid knowledge of Project Controls principles and methodologies.

• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).

• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and project financial reporting.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.

• Experience preparing and managing EAC (Estimate at Completion) and ETC (Estimate to Complete) forecasts.

• Strong analytical and financial reporting capabilities.
