Financial Project Manager (Financial PMO)

WSP is seeking an experienced Financial Project Manager to lead and coordinate the financial aspects of strategic projects from initiation through completion. This position is responsible for ensuring effective budget management, forecasting, financial controls, cash flow monitoring, and reporting processes that support business objectives and project success.

Working closely with Project Managers, Project Controllers, Financial Analysts, and Business Leaders, the Financial Project Manager will play a key role in financial planning, performance analysis, risk management, and decision-making. The successful candidate will help ensure projects are delivered within financial targets while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the financial planning, management, and control of projects throughout their lifecycle.

• Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

• Oversee project revenues, costs, margins, profitability, and cash flow performance.

• Partner with Project Managers to ensure project financial objectives and contractual requirements are achieved.

• Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions when necessary.

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual project financial review processes.

• Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and performance analyses to senior leadership and stakeholders.

• Monitor financial and operational KPIs to evaluate project health and performance.

• Identify financial risks and opportunities and develop mitigation and optimization strategies.

• Coordinate and provide guidance to Project Controllers and Financial Analysts on project financial matters.

• Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, procedures, and audit requirements.

• Support strategic planning, portfolio analysis, and business decision-making initiatives.

• Develop financial models, forecasting tools, and scenario analyses to support project and business objectives.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and financial process optimization across the organization.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Financial Engineering, or a related field.

• Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), Project Management, Project Controls, or a related discipline is highly preferred.

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in project financial management, financial PMO environments, project controls, financial planning, or similar leadership roles.

• Proven experience managing budgets, forecasts, financial controls, profitability analysis, and cash flow for large and complex projects.

• Experience within engineering, infrastructure, construction, consulting, or professional services organizations.

• Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary teams and managing relationships with senior stakeholders.

Technical Skills

• Advanced financial analysis and financial modeling.

• Budget management and forecasting.

• Cost control and project profitability analysis.

• Cash flow management and financial performance reporting.

• Financial risk management.

• KPI development and performance measurement.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Proficiency in Power BI or other business intelligence and data visualization tools.

• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar platforms.

• Knowledge of PMO frameworks, project management methodologies, and project controls principles.
